At large, the Galaxy Buds Pro appears to be a culmination of the Buds Plus and the Buds Live. It takes design inspiration from Buds Live’s shape and features certain improvements to make for an ergonomic form factor. Samsung says that this design approach helps in improving the sound quality and makes the buds less protruding to allow for a natural fit. Talking of which, it also suggests that the ‘new design also reduces the contact area between your ear and the bud to improve comfort and minimize the clogged-up feeling’. As for what’s inside, the Buds Pro features an 11mm woofer (for bass) and a 6.5mm tweeter (for treble). This, as per the company, allows the earbuds to deliver a ‘dynamic and balanced sound’. Aside from elements for audio, the earbuds also incorporate three microphones and a voice pickup unit (VPU), which ‘separate voice from unwanted sounds’ and allows for a clear listening (calling) experience. Moreover, the outer microphone is said to have a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) to further cut down on the background noises. In addition, Samsung says it has a specially designed chamber and mesh filters on the earbuds to filter out wind interference to make phone calls sound clearer in outdoor settings. Talking about ANC capabilities, the Galaxy Buds Pro is said to have ‘intelligent ANC capabilities’. So, for times when you need to tune out from the world, Samsung suggests that the earbuds ‘can reduce background noise by up to 99 percent’. On the other hand, when you need to listen to your surroundings, the earbuds claim to ‘amplify your nearby sounds by more than 20 decibels’. Besides, both ANC and ambient sound work automatically to optimize your audio experience to help you communicate better.
Lastly, talking about integration with the galaxy ecosystem, the earbuds now support automatic toggling between Galaxy smartphones and tablets, so you no longer have to engage in the manual process. Besides, when used with the all-new Galaxy S21 series of devices, the Buds Pro provides 360 audio experience with Dolby Head tracking. As for battery life, Samsung claims up to 8 hours of playback on the Buds Pro, with an additional 20 hours of reserve power with the wireless charging case. Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro comes in three colorways: Phantom Black, Phantom Silver, and Phantom Violet.
