OPPO A5 2020 and A9 2020: Display and Design
The A5 and A9 feature a 6.5-inch nano waterdrop screen with an 89% screen-to-body ratio and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3+ protection on top to provide protection against scratches. OPPO calls this a nano waterdrop screen and says that it offers a 31.4% decrease in the overall area compared to the previous generation. On its back, the A9 comes with a 3D gradient design, made out of four curved 3D sheets to make it thinner and more ergonomic in hand.

At its core, both smartphones share the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor running under the hood, paired with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage on the A5 2020 and 4GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage on the A9 2020. Commenting on the new processor, OPPO compared the Snapdragon 450 on the A7 and highlighted that the CPU performance on the new A9 2020 has improved by 40%, with a 100% performance improvement in GPU. The A5 2020 and A9 2020 run on ColorOS 6.0.1 based on Android 9.0 Pie, out of the box, and come with a massive 5000mAh battery, which should easily last a day with heavy use. OPPO promises 19 up to hours of battery with continuous operation.

For optics, the two smartphones share the same quad-camera setup on the rear. The A5 2020 sports a 12MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP mono sensor, and a 2MP portrait sensor on its rear. And, an 8MP selfie camera on the front with AI Beautification technology. On the other hand, the A9 2020 comes with a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP mono sensor, and a 2MP portrait sensor on the rear. And, a 16MP selfie camera on the front with AI Beautification technology. The cameras on both smartphones come equipped with 4K video shooting capabilities, Ultra Night Mode 2.0, HDR, image stabilization, and Multi-Frame Technology.
