Pete Lau, CEO, and Founder of OnePlus took to the company’s official forums to announce it. In addition to that, he added, “Understanding the relationship between people and smartphones, we brainstormed with our community of OnePlus users to learn what the users want most – a flexible, light and quick experience. Keeping these parameters at heart, we have conceptualized the OnePlus 6. To make this experience a reality we have established within our ranks a special R&D unit, called Team FSE (Fast, Stable, Efficient). The one goal of this unit is to ensure that we can transcend the current norm with providing our users with what we believe to be a truly ‘burdenless’ user experience.” Furthermore, Lau also mentioned that the 256GB variant will have 8GB of RAM which is same as last year. The post also confirmed the presence of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor inside it. Last week, Carl Pei, OnePlus’ co-founder, tried to justify the addition of a “notch” at the top of the OnePlus 6. OnePlus’ primary motivation to opt for that particular design was to essentially offer users more screen real estate. it allows the software to can shove all the notifications and other minute details on either side of the notch and the user, as a result, has the rest of the screen for other purposes. Carl also said that they have tweaked the software as well for accommodating the notch. The phone maker has been analyzing the top thousand Play Store apps to evaluate which one of them will require a compatibility mode for being coherent with the notch design. Another critical pain point OnePlus will be fixing through software is video playback. The phone’s software, as per Carl, will automatically hide the notch “in a way that recreates the overall screen curvature” whenever you watch a video or view any pictures. It will, of course, also come with navigation gestures which the company has already introduced through a beta update for the OnePlus 5T.
